Vintage 1953 English Oak Draw-Leaf Extending Dining Table | Carved Trestle Base

A handsome mid-century English oak dining table, dated 1953 by its original maker's tag. Solid oak throughout, with a draw-leaf extension mechanism - pull both leaves out from beneath the top to nearly double the surface for entertaining, then slide them back in when not needed. The table stands on a pair of substantial turned and carved legs with acorn detailing, set into a trestle base with sled feet and a stretcher rail, joined to a scalloped, notch-carved apron in the Jacobean-revival style popular with British oak furniture makers of the era.

Good honest vintage condition with a warm, aged patina consistent with over 70 years of use. Surface marks, light scuffing to the top, and a small age split to one apron rail are visible in the photos — typical for solid oak of this vintage and not structural. A sturdy, characterful table with genuine history behind it.
